The quaint village of Dunchurch in Warwickshire has a unique way of celebrating Christmas. Each year, the village community comes together to transform the iconic Lord John Scott statue into a festive centerpiece, and this year's creation is a heartwarming sight.
The statue, usually a silent sentinel, is secretly dressed up by the villagers in a tradition that has been going strong for decades. The identity of the decorator remains a closely guarded secret, fueling speculation among the locals. This year, the statue has taken on a new form as Chase, the German Shepherd pup from the beloved children's show Paw Patrol. The statue's base now features a clever cardboard sign, reading, 'Chase is on the Christmas Case', a playful nod to the show's famous slogan, 'Chase is on the case'.
Amber Cummins, a resident of Dunchurch, shared her delight, especially since her three-year-old son adores Paw Patrol. She described the anticipation and excitement leading up to the reveal, emphasizing how the decorated statue brings the community together. The statue's transformation has been a hit over the years, taking on various forms, including Bluey, Pinocchio, Pingu, and Peppa Pig. It even paid tribute to World War II history by becoming a soldier in May to commemorate Victory in Europe Day.
The villagers' dedication to this tradition is a testament to the power of community spirit and creativity. It's a simple yet powerful way to bring people together and create lasting memories. So, the next time you're in Dunchurch, keep an eye out for this delightful surprise and join the community in their festive celebration!
