The headline index, measuring the sentiment of large manufacturers, soared to 15 for the quarter ending December, marking the highest figure in four years. This positive data has intensified expectations that the Bank of Japan (BoJ) will raise interest rates in its upcoming monetary policy announcement on Friday. Governor Kazuo Ueda recently affirmed that the BoJ is making substantial progress toward its inflation target, further fueling market speculation. Meanwhile, the Pound Sterling (GBP) is experiencing a period of relative calm, awaiting the release of UK labor market data for the three months ending October. The data is anticipated to indicate a rise in the Unemployment Rate to 5.1% and a moderate growth in Average Earnings excluding bonuses by 4.5%.
