Grete Rattasepp, one of the main organizers, shared her amazement at the club’s rapid growth. “When I posted the dates for the knitting sessions, the entire month was fully booked in no time,” she said. “We keep the groups small, around twelve people, to ensure everyone can chat and feel included. It’s been incredible to see how much it’s taken off in just a few months.”
And this is the part most people miss: knitting in a group isn’t just about the craft—it’s about the community. Sille, a club member, explained, “You can knit alone at home, but it’s so much more fun here. Seeing what others are working on is inspiring, and it sparks new ideas for your own projects.” Daisy, another member, added, “Since we all share this interest, I never feel awkward talking about knitting all evening. It’s like we’re all on the same wavelength.”
The club meets once a week, bringing together strangers who quickly become friends over their shared love of knitting. Grete and her co-organizer, Maria Kim, are a perfect example. They met at a coffee festival, bonded over their passion for crafts, and soon launched the club’s Instagram account and first meeting. Maria, a ceramist by trade, was a knitting novice when she joined, proving that beginners are more than welcome.

Grete explained, “In countries like Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, and Norway, there are ‘knitting cinemas’ where you can craft while watching a movie. We want to show that knitting and crocheting are cool, modern hobbies—not just for grandmothers.”
