Liverpool thrashed Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 to advance to the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday night. Curtis Jones, operating at right-back, opened the scoring in the first half, while Dominik Szoboszlai doubled the lead after the break. Mohamed Salah picked himself up off the ground after being felled by Pascal Groß in the box to convert the penalty and send the Reds into the last 16.
Arne Slot’s side are currently grappling with a right-back crisis, with Jones filling in there after Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley were sidelined with long-term injuries. Szoboszlai, who has also filled that position previously, returned to the team after serving a suspension but lined up in midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister.
The Reds completed a spotless week, adding a second win in seven days following a 1-0 victory over Sunderland in midweek. Their focus now shifts back to their Premier League title pursuit, as they face Nottingham Forest next. They’ll visit the City Ground next weekend before a Merseyside clash with West Ham.
