As the film gears up for production later this year, most roles have been cast, except for one: Christopher Dent, the troubled father of Harvey Dent. This role, it seems, was initially offered to Brad Pitt before Sebastian Stan stepped into the spotlight as Harvey. Now, Reeves is on the hunt for an older actor to portray Dent Sr., and Stellan Skarsgård was reportedly in the running.
The reasons behind Skarsgård's decision remain unclear, but speculation suggests he might be waiting for bigger opportunities, especially if he wins the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Sentimental Value.
And this is the part that has everyone talking: there are whispers of a second male villain in the sequel, but the character's identity remains shrouded in mystery. Reeves has dropped subtle hints about the villain, describing them as someone who has never been portrayed on the big screen before. Could this be a reference to Scarlett Johansson's character?
In a recent interview, Reeves emphasized the importance of secrecy due to the film's detective-story nature, stating, "It’s a mystery, and that would be an extra level of heartbreak if that part of it started getting out. You wanna keep the surprise so the fans... can have the fun experience that I always love going to the movies, which was to go and be surprised."
The Batman - Part II promises to take the iconic DC Comics hero in a fresh direction, with Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Joining him are Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and potentially Barry Keoghan as The Joker. Zoë Kravitz, however, is not expected to reprise her role as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be playing Harvey Dent's wife, Gilda.
