Danish fashion studio Another Aspect and design house Fritz Hansen have joined forces on a unique collaboration, turning surplus leather into covetable accessories. The result is a collection of considered leather accessories crafted from Fritz Hansen’s surplus materials, reimagined through Another Aspect’s minimalist aesthetic. This partnership showcases how one brand’s leftovers can become another’s everyday essentials, proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand.
The collaboration is centered around the idea of reusing and repurposing existing materials. In a creative exchange, Another Aspect provided fabric remnants from its production, including burgundy tweed and contrasting Japanese textiles, which Fritz Hansen then transformed into upholstery for its sleek Dot™ stools. These stools will soon grace café La Cabra, located within Another Aspect’s store in the heart of Copenhagen. Meanwhile, Fritz Hansen supplied leather pieces from its upholstery workshop, which Another Aspect transformed into accessories, including bags, belts, and keyholders.
Daniel Brøndt, co-founder and brand director of Another Aspect, emphasizes the importance of respecting materials, craftsmanship, and longevity. He states, "Fritz Hansen’s mindset made them a natural partner for exploring how existing resources can be rethought rather than replaced." Another Aspect’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of deadstock leather, which would have otherwise gone to waste, resulting in garments with no negative environmental impact.
The collaboration showcases Another Aspect’s refined, everyday menswear staples infused with crisp Scandi cool. The label has introduced classic wardrobe essentials, such as a black slim belt to add a touch of elegance to any outfit, and a spacious, slouchy tote designed to carry all daily essentials. Brøndt notes that these pieces will develop a unique character over time, becoming even more desirable with use and natural distress.
The collaboration with Fritz Hansen demonstrated to Brøndt and his team the potential for responsible practices on a larger scale. He reflects on the state of fashion today, suggesting that there’s often a gap between sustainability as a narrative and sustainability as a practice. He believes that the industry needs to move away from volume-driven success and instead allow time, material care, and longevity to define value.
